FlyVPN is a US-based VPN provider that took off at 2012. At first, FlyVPN had limited features to offer and they operated with a small server network. However, within just half a decade, FlyVPN expanded their network of servers and added more features. In this review, we will discuss everything related to FlyVPN based on our trial of their free service.

Free Trial & Money-Back Guarantee

FlyVPN offers a free trial for three days with limited use for 20 minutes a day and limited access to their server network. If you would like to get full access to all the services and features provided by FlyVPN, then you will need to subscribe to one of their paid packages.

On the other hand, FlyVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee which is great if you are not satisfied with the service, you can always get your money back.

Pricing

Unlike other VPN services, FlyVPN has 3 different packages based on types of IP addresses, these are: Shared IP, USA Dedicated IP and Korea Dedicated IP. Users have the option to pay monthly, semi-annually or annually for each package. Let’s have a look at what is being offered with each package.

*FlyVPN Shared IP

– Available tunneling protocols: OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec, PPTP.

– Monthly subscription costs $9.99.

*FlyVPN US Dedicated IP

– Monthly subscription costs $9.99.

– Semi-annual subscription costs $45.

– Annual subscription costs $80.

*FlyVPN Korea Dedicated IP

– 1 korea IP for 1 account.

– Available tunneling protocols: L2TP/IPsec, PPTP.

– Monthly subscription costs $9.99.

– Semi-annual subscription costs $45.

– Annual subscription costs $80.

Payment Methods

One of the good things about FlyVPN is that anonymous payment methods, like Bitcoins are accepted. Regular online payment methods are also accepted, such as: PayPal, Alipay, MyCard and Western Union.

Privacy Policy

At first glance, you will notice how short the privacy policy page is. Nonetheless, we were not impressed by either length or context of the document.  FlyVPN does not keep traffic logs, hence, your online activity will not be recorded or monitored. However, FlyVPN does keep dense records of your personal information, such as: legal name, mobile number, postal address, email address as well as billing information. As for your VPN connection, FlyVPN keeps timestamps, local IP, port number used, VPN session duration. It is not mentioned for how long do they keep such information.

The Client

We downloaded the software for Windows 7 to test it and though it was for only few minutes, we were not unhappy with its performance. The signing up process is easy, all that is required is to provide a valid email address and a password.

After registering for an account, you will then need to install their client which was equally a smooth process. The interface is not particularly elegant, but it is decent and user-friendly as well.

FlyVPN Features

In this section, we will go through the different features such as encryption protocols, servers, bandwidth, compatibility with other platforms, and so on.

Security

FlyVPN relies on 128-bit SSL based security which supports most commonly known tunneling protocols, such as: PPTP, L2TP/IPsec and OpenVPN. Users are able to safely use FlyVPN in public places to connect to public WiFi and hotspot networks, such as those found in cafes, hotels, airports, libraries, etc.

Servers and Bandwidth

We were impressed to find that FlyVPN has a large network of servers that is spread globally to cover Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. The company has 30+ servers in 34 countries including United States, Argentina, Canada, Sweden, United Kingdom, Australia, Taiwan, New Zealand, Netherlands, Indonesia, Hong Kong, France, Japan, Singapore, China, Vietnam, South Korea, South Africa, Germany, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Peru, Spain, Brazil, India, Egypt, Thailand, Mexico, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Turkey and Ukraine.

Such extensive server network gives FlyVPN users the ability to bypass geo-restrictions and get access to hundreds of restricted websites without any restrictions on speed or data transfer, like: Netflix, Spotify, RTL, BBC iPlayer, Direct 8, AT5, Bravo, Mio TV, Voddler, Sport1, Lovefilm, HBO Go, CBS, Sky Go, Much Music, WimpMusic, CMore, Deezer, TVB, Pluzz, Eurosport, WDR, Amazon Prime, ABC iView, TV Japan, Gmail, Skype, Facebook, Viber, YouTube, Twitter and many more.

Users get to also enjoy unlimited bandwidth and ultra-fast speeds for media streaming, VoIP apps and torrenting.

Compatibility

FlyVPN’s software is compatible with majorly popular platforms and operating systems, such as: Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android, Linux, Smart TVs and gaming consoles. This means it can be used with many devices, including: desktops, laptops, smartphones, tablets, Smart TVs and gaming consoles.

Customer Support

Customers can reach the FlyVPN team through live chat, email and telephone. There is also a good F.A.Q section for self-assistance. The team also provides assistance in different languages, such as: English, Japanese, Chinese, French, Russian, Korean and German.

Conclusion

FlyVPN is a VPN that wants to make everybody happy. They provide a decent service which is packed with lots of features and compatible with popular platforms. On the other hand, it is rather disappointing in terms of security and privacy since 128-bit encryption is not exactly what we need today. Furthermore, FlyVPN keeps a lot of personal information which is not hot when it comes to a private internet environment. Moreover, it does not have either a kill switch, DNS leak protection or an IPv6 leak protection which are extremely important due to the increase in DNS and IP leaks with even the most leading VPN services, such as: ExpressVPN.

FlyVpn has worst customer service. I used bitcoin to make payment for one month, but instead they charged for 1 year. Over 90 USD. When asked for refund, although they had 30 day refund policy, they changed their info on their website and refused to refund saying they don’t refund bitcoin payments. I asked them to refund to my paypal account, but they did not.

Don’t ever deal with these guys, they rip you off. They are cheap people. For 100 bucks, they do anything to take your money.

Would never recommend them to anyone. Had worst experience with them. Stay away.
