This is a detailed, step-by-step, tutorial on how to manually configure a virtual private network or VPN’s Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol or L2TP connection with Internet Protocol Security or IPSec on your Windows RT 8.1 operated device.

 

What You Will Need Before Configuring L2TP VPN on Windows RT 8.1

Before establishing a new L2TP VPN connection on Windows RT 8.1, first you will need to get things ready:

 

1- You will need a working  internet connection.

 

2- You will also need an Windows RT 8.1 that is working properly

.

3- You will also need to make sure that your premium VPN subscription is active (e.g: bVPN).

Steps to Configure L2TP  Manually on Windows RT 8.1

Follow the steps below in order to successfully establish a new L2TP VPN connection on your Windows RT 8.1:

1- From the top right corner of your screen, swipe in, then  and tap on “Settings”.

 

2- After that, go to “Change PC Settings”, and then tap on “Networks”.

 

3- Next, tap on “Connections”.

 

4- In the “VPN” tab, tap on “Add VPN Connection”.

 

5- In the “VPN Provider” option, choose “Windows (built-in)”.

 

6- In the “Connection Name” option, add  in a name for your VPN connection.

 

7- In the “Server Name or Address” field, type in the IP address you want to connect to.

 

8- In the “VPN Type” field, choose “Layer 2 Tunnelling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP)”.

 

9- In the “Username” field, type in your VPN username.

 

10- In the “Password” field, type in your VPN password.

 

11- Tap on the “Save” button.

 

12- Now, go to “Change Adapter Options”.

 

13- In the list of connections displayed before you, locate your VPN connection. It is most likely under “WAN Miniport (L2TP)”.

 

14- Right-click on it, and then choose “Properties”.

 

15- Now, go to the “Security” tab, and then tap on the “Advanced Settings” option.

 

16- A window will appear, choose “Use preshared key for authentication”.

 

17- Tap on “OK”.

 

18- Tap on “OK” one more time, and then close “Network and Connections”.

 

19- Return to the “Network and Internet Settings” window.

 

21- You will now be able to see your newly created L2TP VPN connection.

 

13- Tap on “Connect” to activate your VPN connection.

 

14- Wait for a few moments.

 

You are now connected!
