How to Allow VPN through Mac OS Firewall (Easy Method)

Follow the steps below in order to stop Mac Firewall  from blocking your VPN connection on your system:

1- Click to open your “System Preferences”.

2- Click on the “Security” or “Security & Privacy” icon.

3- Choose the “Firewall” tab.

4- In the preference panel, click on the “lock” icon, and then type in your admin credentials (username and password).

5-  Now, click on the “Firewall” option button.

6- Next, click on the “Add Application” (+) button.

7- From the list of displayed apps, locate your VPN application in order to give it permission to receive incoming and send outgoing connections to and from the internet.

8- Click on “Add”.

9- Click on the “OK” button to save your changes.

You have successfully allowed your VPN connection through Mac OS firewall. Good job!

Bonus! How to Configure Application Firewall on Mac OS X (v10.6 & above)

1- Head over to the Apple menu, and then choose “System Preferences”.

2- Click on the “Security” or “Security & Privacy” icon.

3- Next, choose the “Firewall” tab.

4- In the preference panel, click on the “lock” icon, and then type in your admin credentials (username and password) in order to unlock it.

5- To enable the firewall, you will need to click on “Turn On Firewall” or “Start” button.

6- Click on the “Advanced” button in order to customise your firewall configuration.
